Outside the box - where the commercial register is not enough

A short video insight into the need for external data that goes beyond classic sources such as company registers and commercial registers.

Most analytics projects fail in practice due to a lack of reliable data - we can change that.

Do you have a strategy for your market monitoring or would you like to explore what potential lies in automated report creation? Is your team ready to make global market developments usable for your company? These are ideal conditions to now take care of the crucial lever: the quality and harmonization of your data.

The most valuable market insights often lie beyond traditional commercial registers. Particularly in the case of freelance professions such as lawyers, tax advisors, architects, notaries, auditors, pharmacists, and experts, data is often fragmented and difficult to access. Manual research is not a viable approach here – it is too slow for effective news monitoring and does not scale internationally.

Those who only know the commercial register...

misses a crucial part of reality un many industries and lags far behind current developments.

Manual research or offshoring?

Anyone who wants to keep data in the range of 10k/100k/1M data sets qualitatively and up to date will come up against the limits of manual processes - even offshore.

Just start crawling?

Those who are not fully aware of the technical and legal pitfalls can experience major headaches with small crawling projects.

news-monitor.ai - a suite for practical news monitoring

With our product news-monitor.ai we focus on news data. We believe that facts and figures are only one facet of an analysis - it is just as important to understand the background, the reasoning and the sentiment behind it.

Which sources are processed?

News, blogs, newsletters and custom data – selected according to your needs.

How can we adjust it to our needs?

We define all objectives, sections, target groups, categories and time frames with your team. Once trained our AI can produce a consistent output for your needs.

Why not just ChatGPT/Claude/Perplexity?

An analysis can be done quickly with these models – but: How do I know that all important sources are included and are up to date? How do I know that all my topics have been reviewed? And most importantly: How do I get this consistently every week or every month?

Transparent and reliable

Consistently delivered every week or month.

Our AI prepares a complete report for you – with the chapters and subchapters that are relevant to you – facts, argumentation, sentiment – you get a complete picture. Each statement is provided with a link to the original text, so that you have the opportunity to research further at any time.

We either deliver a structured PDF news report, shareable across your organization and tailored to your needs with defined sections, categories and time frames. Or a table summary with defined metadata. Examples are:

  •  A PDF market report for each country in your industry, with subsections that address your questions
  • An industry report consisting, for example, of the overall economic situation, the industry-specific situation and all regulatory changes in the industry. Events and sentiment are recorded for you every week so you don’t miss a thing.
  • A tabular list of the most important company events for selected companies – e.g. management changes, new suppliers and partners, M&A activities, etc. Each line is stored with relevant metadata.
  • A tabular list of relevant events (e.g. industrial accidents, layoffs, etc.) with relevant metadata.

Enrich and clean up existing CRMs

We identify inactive accounts and undeliverable addresses. But beyond that, we also identify mergers, company changes, dormant businesses, new domains and email addresses, and much more.

KYC and identity verification

Reliable information about the identity of a (prospective) business partner.

Data migration and merges

In large mergers and migration projects, comprehensive address databases must be compared – the new CRM should be duplicate-free, up-to-date, and always retain the best attributes from all old sources.

6 things you should know about external data

1. Legal certainty in web crawling & scraping

The automated collection of publicly accessible data is not a legal license, but rather operates within a strict regulatory framework. The focus is on copyright, which guarantees the protection of individual texts or images, and database protection (Sections 87a et seq. of the German Copyright Act), which protects the economic investment in the structure and collection of a website. Crawling is generally permissible if it does not circumvent technical obstacles (such as logins, CAPTCHAs, or IP blocks), as circumventing such obstacles can be considered unauthorized access. Glanos relies on ‘compliance by design’: Our processes are optimized to process only publicly available information in strict compliance with applicable law and data protection regulations, without compromising the integrity of the target systems.

2. Finding and evaluating data sources: From vision to a valid data basis

A successful data project doesn’t begin with the code, but with data hunting – the targeted search for the right sources. However, the mere availability of information online is deceptive; the crucial factor is the ability to identify good sources and thoroughly assess their feasibility and reliability. Not everything that’s online can be integrated into automated processes in a stable and legally compliant manner.
Glanos draws on extensive experience in this area. We know how to filter the noise on the web to find the sources that will have the greatest impact on your business. Through detailed analysis, we determine what is technically and legally feasible and identify any barriers that would prevent scaling. Instead of theoretical concepts, we deliver the most pragmatic approach: We evaluate data quality, update cycles, and source stability to ensure your projects start on a solid foundation.

3. Continuous updating: Data quality as a process

Company data is highly dynamic. Company name changes, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcies, or the cessation of business operations cause static datasets to become outdated rapidly. A one-time data acquisition therefore only provides a snapshot; continuous updating and monitoring of data is essential for reliable business processes.
Glanos also mitigates the instability of external sources. Because web structures and data platforms are constantly changing, rigidly programmed scripts often lose their functionality after a short time. We safeguard your data supply through proactive maintenance and regular update cycles. This ensures that your information base remains accurate and ready for use, even in the face of structural changes to the sources or the market.

4. International Data Collection: Accessing Global Markets Without Barriers

Scaling data projects across national borders often fails due to the complexity of local conditions. Glanos offers a comprehensive solution that goes beyond simple crawling: We overcome language barriers, integrate machine translation, and operate confidently even outside the Latin alphabet.
Our technology specializes in recognizing and validating diverse international address formats and converting them into a uniform target schema. At the same time, we take into account the differing legal frameworks of the respective target markets. Whether Asian markets, Eastern European registries, or Anglo-American databases – Glanos covers the entire spectrum of international data collection and delivers harmonized data, regardless of origin or format.

5. Automated reporting: Regulatory monitoring at the touch of a button

Continuously monitoring the market environment and the legal and regulatory framework is critical to a company’s success. Based on our news monitoring, Glanos enables the automated generation of PDF reports that inform you either at fixed intervals—for example, once a week—or immediately upon relevant events.
These reports provide a precise summary of all changes and offer complete traceability through direct links to the original sources. We achieve the highest level of reliability: The data is processed completely transparently and without any AI manipulation. Because the scope and content of the reports can be individually configured, you receive precisely the information relevant to your decision-making processes.

6. The right tool for every task: Technological sovereignty

Reliable, high-speed data retrieval requires technological flexibility, not rigid, standard solutions. Glanos employs the optimal toolset for each specific requirement – whether Selenium and Playwright for dynamic web content, headless browsers for efficient scraping, or specialized HTML parsing.
Supported by robust proxy management to ensure accessibility and automated file and media conversion, we can handle even the most complex scenarios. Our experience ensures that we select the most stable tech stack for each source, unlocking even the largest datasets with the highest precision and performance.

FAQ

I know all the companies I need and their messages.

Even in narrowly defined markets, this quickly becomes an illusion. In VUCA times of high volatility and uncertainty, foregoing automated collection of news and company signals is negligent.

My IT department says we should just crawl it ourselves

A simple script for extracting data from websites can now be quickly created using AI. But what about the quality of the data? Are the addresses validated? Are special cases accounted for? Does the monitoring and adaptation to changes in the source work? What happens if the site is blocked? Is the procedure legally sound?

Why shouldn't I just get huge lists from the web for very little money?

International “contact databases” with 100 million entries and emails are circulating in abundance. These are typically completely outdated, repeatedly copied and diluted data originating from leaks (e.g., extensive LinkedIn leaks) and scraping activities from more than 10 years ago. The quality of such “$199 offers” is correspondingly poor.

I have a very limited use case - I don't need millions of data points.

We support a wide range of applications – international b2b databases with around 100 million companies, but also small one-off campaigns in narrowly defined niches with a few 100 hits.

Which markets are supported?

Our company data is available globally. The focus is on developed markets with a high number of company websites, such as North and Central America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, and India.
